Obituary for Elaine Fay Tuhten (McCormick)

Feb 26, 1929 - Mar 20, 2019

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our family matriarch, Elaine Fay Tuhten. Predeceased by Cliff Tuhten in 2011 (her husband of 62 years), brothers Ed, Bill and sister Maureen. Elaine leaves to grieve her children Kelly (Brian), and Trevor (Caroline), grandchildren Georgia, Rachele, Danielle and Joseph as well as sister Pat, sister in law Ann and nieces and nephews in Ontario and BC.

Elaine was born in Blueberry Mountain, Alberta (a fact of which she was always proud) but she lived all of her adult years in BC. Teaching was her profession beginning in one room school houses and logging camps (where she met Cliff) and culminating as an elementary school teacher with the Vancouver School Board. She retired at age 59. Elaine traveled extensively. There were many family trips to Hawaii, numerous cruises and excursions with Cliff and also adventures on her own with friends. She was an avid gambler and golfer and had a soft spot for her many pets. Never afraid to share her opinions, Elaine was strong willed, fiercely independent and lived life on her own terms. And a full life it was.
