Obituary for Andrzej (Andrew) Władysław Bogacki

Andrzej (Andrew) Władysław Bogacki, 77, passed away in the early morning hours of Monday, July 4th 2022.

Andrzej was born in Krakow, Poland On December 7th, 1944 to Adam and Maria Bogacki.

Andrzej graduated from Politechnika Krakowska in Poland where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree as a Mechanical Engineer. He worked at Bipronaft in Krakow for 12 years as a Senior Designer for some of the biggest oil refineries in Poland.

In 1979, he immigrated to Edmonton, AB with his family. There he worked for Thermo Design Engineering for 15 years as a Team Lead for the Design Department.

In 1996, he moved his family Port Moody, BC where he worked for Ballard Power Systems as a Senior Mechanical Designer. He retired from Ballard in 2020 after 24 years of service.

Andrzej met his wife, Elżbieta at a dance in January of 1964. It was love at first sight and they were married on June 12th, 1966. Andrzej and Elżbieta went on to have two children, Olivia and Monika.

In his youth, Andrzej loved sailing on Lake Rożnów in Poland. He also had an immense passion for music with an extensive record collection featuring artists such as Elvis Presley, Cliff Richard, and The Shadows, to name a few. He loved camping, and it’s how he and his family spent their summers in Alberta.

Andrzej had a wonderful sense of humour and you could always count on him to have a slightly inappropriate joke in his back pocket. He loved to make people laugh. In the Fall, one of his favourite pastimes, which he shared with his wife and children, was foraging for mushrooms.

Andrzej was a wonderful, selfless, loving man who dedicated his life to his family (and his dogs). He cherished them all dearly and would do absolutely anything for them. If you needed him he was there for you no matter what he was doing or the time of day.

He was extremely hard-working and dedicated to his job, and he took a lot of pride in his work.

Andrzej will be forever loved by his wife, daughters, and grandchildren, as well as his many relatives and friends. He will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

Andrzej is predeceased by his father, Adam and his mother, Maria. He is survived by his wife Elżbieta; children, Olivia (Ryan) and Monika (John); grandchildren Giancarlo and Skylar; and his sister Ewa (Andrzej).

There will be no formal funeral service held at this time. A private burial and celebration of life will take place at a later date.
