Obituary for Angelina Gentile (Sbrocchi)

Angelina Gentile (Sbrocchi) was born in Bondi Beach Australia in May of 1917.
She was predeceased by her parents, Giovanni and Angela, brothers, John, Peter and Tony, and
sisters, Rosaria, Mary and Elizabeth.
She is survived by her sons, Bob (Sandy) and David, her grandsons, David (Jennifer), Michael
(Margot), and Bobby, and her great granddaughters Sophia and Ava.
She moved to Vancouver with her mother, and sister Betty in 1934, having her 17 th birthday on
the voyage over.  She met Mario Gentile and got married in April of 1939.
It didn’t take Angelina long to fit into her Vancouver lifestyle and become the life of the party-
and she always dressed the part, being the glamorous, gorgeous beauty she was.
She was an avid and accomplished 5 pin bowler, she loved travelling & was always at the
forefront of a good time.
She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother & great grandmother. And she always gave the
greatest hugs of all time. She gave vise-like hugs even all the way up until she passed.
To all who have had the privilege of experiencing her amazing Italian cooking- and there were
many- they are surely even more deeply appreciative of her boundless love, kindness &
generosity. She also had a great sense of humour, as any of those who knew her are well aware.
Angelina, Angie, Mom, daughter, sister, and Nonna- I’m sure would like to thank everyone
that’s been a part of her amazing life. From Bondi Beach Australia, to East Vancouver, to
Burnaby, having lived to 102 years of age, we think she had an amazing ride.
We can only hope we loved her as much as she loved us.

Paulette Notari

I knew Angie for over 20 years, mostly through the eyes of her son David and grandson, Bobby and they adore her. She was a kind, generous and capable woman who was a master of self-possession and quiet determination. I will always admire her strength, independence and kind nature.

Mike Loftus

Our heartfelt condolences go out to the Gentile family. Angie was a dear friend to Joe and Marie Loftus and their family. Most of us kids grew up with Angie and Mario over for dinners and parties. Angie and Marie would often be seen together laughing, socializing and always having a good time. We all loved Mrs. G. She will be sadly missed.

Sincerest condolences on the passing of this remarkable lady. Angie was not only beautiful and intelligent but, she had a heart of gold, a great sense of humor and a zest for life. She lived and loved her family and friends more than one could imagine. She was a light and fount of wisdom.
I was blessed to share a birth date with her and was blessed to call her friend. May she rest in her eternal peace. With love.
