Obituary for Anthony Gordon Martens

Anthony Gordon Martens, age 93, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2021, Burnaby, BC. Anthony (Tony) was born the youngest of six brothers at home on the farm of Peter and Marie Martens, near Herbert, Saskatchewan. Tony married Alma, his dear wife of 61 years, in Main Center, Saskatchewan. They moved to Calgary, Alberta, where they had their two children. In 1963, Tony was transferred to Burnaby, BC, where he resided until his passing. In 1972, Tony founded Husky Equipment, an award-winning truck equipment company, which he owned and operated for 24 years.

Just a few years after he retired, Alma was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. He faithfully provided care for her until she passed several years later. Tony was a true gentleman, remembered for his steadfastness, selfless generosity, relentless faith in God, and dedication to family.

He was predeceased by his parents, his wife; five brothers, Otto, Fred, Samuel, Roy, and Reuben Martens.

He leaves to cherish his memory his son, Errol (Joyce)Martens, their family -Tanya (Tristan) Sloan, Alina, Esmae; -Jayna (Jonathan) Lowe, Anaya, Ronan, Mayli; -Angela Martens; -Anthony Martens; and his daughter, Gail (Rod)Johnston- Watson, their family - Tyler (Irina) Johnston-Watson, Wyatt; - Sarah Johnston-Watson; and many other special relatives and friends. He will be greatly missed.

The Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00PM, Saturday, July 24, 2021, at Blue Mountain Baptist Church, 450 Blue Mountain Ave, Coquitlam BC, where he attended for 55 years. Please request access to the live stream by contacting the family directly.
