Obituary for Barry Thomas Tietjen

Tietjen, Barry Thomas: June 28, 1942 to Dec. 28, 2018

Barry died surrounded by the love of family and friends. He was pre-deceased by his parents Bill and Peggy (Fussell) Tietjen, first husband Ken Blanchard, sister-in-law Sylvia (Coult) Tietjen, brother-in-law Ken Marsh and nephew Ron Tietjen. Missing him greatly are husband Glen Nabholz,
brother Glenn Tietjen and sister Bonnie (Tietjen) Marsh and their children and grandchildren, faithful friend Nita Townsend and many good friends.

Barry was an exceptional man with many talents. His love of the arts was reflected as a ballet dancer, his spiritual caring when he served as a lay minister in the Anglican Church and his sense of adventure when he learned to pilot a plane. Barry worked in education for 35 years as a teacher, principal and assistant superintendent. He was well respected by staff and students throughout his teaching life.

Barry made a positive contribution in the lives of all who knew him. A Celebration of Life will be held on June 28, 2019 (Barry’s 77th birthday) at Eagle Creek Golf Course. Details will be printed closer to the date.

Please write a special memory you have about Barry and send it to
www.BurquitlamFuneralHome.ca This site will be open for the next couple of months. Glen and Nita will compile your words into a special “Memories Book”.

Glen and Nita very much appreciate the caring and supportive staff in the HAU and ICU wards at Royal Columbian Hospital. We also appreciate the love and support of our families and friends.

Gifts of flowers are respectfully declined. However, if you wish, a contribution to The Doctor Peter Centre, The SPCA, The Union Gospel Mission or the Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
