Obituary

Christopher James Coogan, 44, Born October 16, 1974 in Burnaby, BC, passed away May 9, 2019 in Coquitlam, BC.

Christopher is survived by his loving parents Jim and Kathy Coogan, brother Darren (Kim), sisters Caroline (Darryl) and Fionna (Alex) and nieces and nephews Kaitlyn, Quinn, Sam, Bennett, Ciara, Owen and Liam and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins in Canada, Ireland and England.

Christopher had many hobbies and interests such as wood working, music and fitness. He would spend hours reading about world history and was recently learning to speak Spanish. Irish Blessing

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
The rains fall softly upon your fields
and until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Chris I still listen to Zeppelin and think of you. All those times we heard something we hadn't noticed before. That time we heard "new" Zep on the radio. I wish we had gotten to hear one more song together. Ramble on old friend

I unfortunately never had the pleasure of meeting Christopher in person, though we talked about meeting many times. I would have loved nothing more than to have had that chance. He came into my life in 2016 with a force that has forever changed me. We quickly connected over our love of animals, vegetarian/veganism, chipotle flavored ranch/sauce, writing, and sadly our unfortunate battles with anxiety and depression. He became my safe place to fall, I hope I was that for him too. I could always count on his voice to calm me, and he always seemed to have the right words to say. He had a talent for making people feel better. One night while we were voice chatting on Skype he randomly picked up his guitar and started playing a small snippet of the song Free Fallin’ which he had been trying to learn... that will always be one of my favorite memories. His guitar seemed to play a special part in our friendship for quite a while. I will miss that.

Some people are just a little extra special, and he definitely was.

I love you, Christopher. I’m so thankful that I was able to know you. I miss you beyond words and I can’t believe I’ll never see your name flash across my phone screen and get to hear your voice again. You will always be in my heart and I will cherish you and our memories forever. This still doesn’t feel real...

To Christopher's family - You have all been in my thoughts every day since I found out. I am so sorry.

- Amy
