Obituary for Darlene Heather "Dar" Lawson

LAWSON, Darlene
October 1953 - October 2018

Darlene "Dar" was born in Vancouver, BC on October 1st, 1953 and passed away suddenly in her North Vancouver home on Saturday October 20th after putting up her annual Halloween decorations - a reminder of her creativity and joyous spirit that always blossomed while celebrating holidays.

Darlene's family had strong ties to the Salvation Army and cared deeply for their community. A resident of North Vancouver, since early childhood, Darlene loved the North Shore. She attended Highland Elementary, Delbrook Secondary and studied at the University of British Columbia. Darlene recently retired from a 47 year career at Woodwards/Safeway Canada. She had an inspired passion for arts and culture, taking immense joy from supporting local artisans, craft markets and festivals, especially the West Vancouver Harmony Arts Festival. Darlene's kind, incredibly generous and creative spirit will be missed by all whose lives she made a little more colourful.

Darlene was predeceased by her parents, Ernie and Dorothy and Brother-in-law Gordon. She is lovingly remembered by her brother Wayne, wife Wanda; sisters Katheleen; Sandy, husband Rob; Sylvia, husband Ray; six nieces; several grand nieces and nephews who adored her; many extended relatives and friends whose lives she touched.

A celebration of her life will be held at 1pm on Saturday, November 17th at the Salvation Army Cariboo Hill Temple, 7195 Cariboo Road, Burnaby.

In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the Harmony Arts Festival by cheque 750 17th Street, West Vancouver, BC V7V 3T3 or by phone at 604 925-7194

Thank you sincerely for sharing our sorrow and our fond memories of Darlene. Your thoughtfulness will always be remembered.
