Obituary for Donald Leroy Duffield

In loving memory of Donald Leroy Duffield, October 1, 1923 – March 1, 2021.

Predeceased by his loving wife of 53 years, Wilma Jessie Willett Duffield, and by his siblings, Dolly, Kitty, William, Lizzie, Dinah, Jean, Frank, Isabel, Douglas, Patricia and his grandson, James. Survived by his sister-in-law, Alice (Poppy) Duffield and family, his daughters April Duffield and Karen Duffield, son Larry Duffield (and family), daughter-in-law, Patricia Duffield, grandsons Stephen Stebbing (wife Jen and great granddaughters, Chloe and Hanna, great-great grandchildren, Aubrey and Midas), Jeremy Duffield (and family) and Nicolas Duffield (and family).

Born and raised in Winnipeg, Donald was a world traveler as an adult. He served Canada during World War Two, joining at the age of 17. He spent a good portion of his younger years in the Royal Canadian Air Force (as it was named at the time) and his latter working years with External Affairs, travelling to Venezuela, Japan, Hungary and China, eventually bringing him back to Canada to live out his life teaching acupressure to students in Vancouver and English to homestay students.

Donald will be fondly remembered for his drawings, his passion for reading, studying languages and his dry humor.

We are happy he lived a long life and surpassed his hopes and dreams while with us.

A Memorial services will not be held due to COVID-19 restrictions and his own personal wishes. The surviving family will hold a celebration of his life when restrictions are lifted.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
