Obituary for Donelda Currie
CURRIE, Donelda (Donna)
July 27, 1930-July 19, 2023
It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of our mother,
grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend.
Mom left this world to be with her beloved husband Dick on July 19th, 2023 at the
age of 92, just shy of her 93rd birthday.
Mom was born and raised in Regina Saskatchewan to George & Lulu Mae
Younghusband on July 27, 1930. In 1951 she married Ron Bremner and moved to
Victoria, BC., followed by a move to Culver City, California and in 1962 their
daughter Kim was born. Donna and Kim then moved to Vancouver in 1965.
In 1966 Mom met Dick Currie, the best husband & father you could ever ask for
and they were married July 4, 1970.
Mom worked at BC Hydro from 1966 until her retirement in 1986.
Over the years she made many friends and memories, curling at the Burnaby
Winter Club and camping at Tee Pee Trailer Park at Cultus Lake from 1969-1979.
Mom and Dick enjoyed a number of cruises and trips including Hawaii, Hong
Kong, Taiwan and many road trips.
Mom was pre-deceased by parents George & Lulu Mae Younghusband, husband
Dick Currie, brother Blair Younghusband, sister Joan Graham and many dear
friends and family.
Mom is survived by daughter Kim (Lyle), daughter Brenda, son Ron (Van),
grandchildren Jason (Anna), Crystal (Colin) and great granddaughter Kairi.
The family would like to thank both Belvedere Assisted Living and Belvedere Care
Centre for their tremendous support and care over the last few years.
Mom requested no service, so we will be having a celebration of life on Saturday
August 12, 2023 from 11:00am to 2:00pm. Address is Windsor Oaks Clubhouse -
19160-119th Avenue, Pitt Meadows, BC.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation in her name to the BC Cancer Society or
Alzheimer Society of BC.
