Obituary for Doreen Pearl Ojanen (Mehan)

Doreen Pearl Ojanen born in Vancouver, B.C- October 16, 1928 - August 11, 2020, 91 years old.

Predeceased by husband Charles (Chuck) Ojanen, March 2010. Lovingly remember by son Brent Ojanen, and daughter Wendy Serena (Mariano). Grandchildren: Dino Serena (Nadia) and great grandaughters
Mikayla, Sonia and Alana; Andria Harmon (Ryan) and newly arrived great grandaughter, Aspen Rose; Erica O'Quinn (Mark). Also survived by brother George Owen, and sister-in-law, Fran Mehan, niece Lottie Ann Kerr (Al Jackson) and other loving family members and friends.

Mom was a proud descendant of Royal Engineer John Linn, who came to Canada in the 1800's from Scotland, to build roads and bridges in B.C. He later settled in and pioneered what is now known as Lynn Valley in North Vancouver. Mom was also proud to have shared her birthday with Mickey Mouse, whose debut was in 1928 also, and had quite a collection of Mickey Mouse memorabillia.

Mom retained her "sharp" and quite remarkable memory until the end by doing crossword puzzles and watching her favourite T.V. shows, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. She recently said that she was lucky enough to have been everywhere, and done all of the things that she wanted to do, and now according to "Dr. Phil", "we all have to die to make room for more people"!.

Mom had many health issues in the past few years, and lived in the Belvedere Care Home in Coquitlam. I would like to thank the nurses and caregivers there for taking good care of her.

Due to Covid, a Celebration of Doreen's Life will be held at a later time.
