Obituary for Dorothy Ann Baylis (Izon)

Dorothy Ann (Izon) Baylis passed away peacefully at the age of 100 years on November 13, 2018. She is survived by her sister, Mary Mauro, of Arizona; her children: Evelyn (Rozanne), John (Dar), Reg (Catherine) and Mary (Norman); her grandchildren: David, Paul, Ashleigh, Stephen, Lisa, Daniel, Richard and Kate, and her great-grandchildren: Edison, Ian, Benjamin, Gracie and Maisey. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Frank William Baylis; her brother, Fred Izon, and her sister, Irene Terris.

Dorothy was born in Dauphin, Manitoba. She spent many years in Stave Falls and Mission, and her latter years in Port Coquitlam and Coquitlam. Family was most important to Dorothy. She remembered everyone’s birthday, even as the numbers grew, keeping all of us in her nightly prayers! She was the “family historian” writing letters to distant cousins in Manitoba and England, bringing relatives back in touch. With her big heart she welcomed anyone who needed family into our home.

Our family greatly appreciates the tender, compassionate care that Mum received from the staff of Dufferin Care Centre in Coquitlam.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dorothy’s name to a charity of your choice. A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
