Obituary for Fred Ryman

With saddened hearts the family announces the passing of Charles Frederick (Fred) Ryman of Coquitlam, BC, at the age of 85 on Saturday, October 28, 2023. Fred passed at the Royal City Manor care home in New Westminster, BC. after 15 months due to the effects of vascular dementia.

Fred was born on November 30, 1937 in Newmarket, Ontario, to Frederick Henry and Eleanor Patricia (Leppard) Ryman. Fred was the eldest of six, followed by sister, Gail, brothers, Wayne, Dave and Jack and baby sister Penny. Fred met and married Ann (Machmer) (1961-1973) in Toronto. They started a family in Brantford, Ontario and had three children, Debbie, Kevin and Sean. Fred had a successful career with Prudential Insurance during this time. After the family moved to BC, Fred started his career with BC Hydro, where he would stay until retiring in 2002.

During this time, Fred and Theresa (Gadbois, nee Parent) would meet at square dancing and marry in 2003, they had each found the love of their lives, and the new family expanded to include Theresa’s adult children, Paul, Robert, and Yvonne. Fred and Theresa were always very family oriented. Fred enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a gentle and fun-loving man, good natured, enjoyed talking with others, and together with his wife, took on a very busy social calendar both before and after retirement.

Fred is predeceased by his son, Sean Rasmussen, on July 17, 2023, and parents, Fred and Eleanor Ryman; sister, Gail (Laurie) Love; and brother, Dave Ryman; and is survived by his wife, Theresa Ryman; son, Kevin (Robin) Rasmussen; and daughter, Debbie Klimes; and his extended family, Paul (Lina) Gadbois; Robert (Lynn) Gadbois; and Yvonne (Rod) Moyseyuk; six grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and brothers, Jack (Diane) Ryman; Wayne (Julia) Ryman; and sister, Penny (Reiterer); sister-in-law, Betty; nephew Dave (Veronica) Ryman; and many nieces and nephews.

The Funeral will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Parish, 315 Walker Street, Coquitlam, BC. on Friday, November, 10, 2023, officiated by Father Au.
