With sadness we announce the sudden and unexpected but peaceful passing of Gilbert Plessis at his residence in New Westminster, BC on Monday, February 21, 2022, at the age of 75.
Gilbert was born at Ste. Rose Hospital in Manitoba on September 7, 1946 to Noel and Elda (nee Longtin) Plessis of McCreary, Manitoba. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Jean.
Left to mourn are his brothers and sisters, Rose (Bob) Wright, Pierre, Bernard (Diane), Dhyana (Bevan) Harrington, Yvette, Francis, and a very special person in his life, Macrina Persaud.
Gilbert was not a stranger to adversities in life which he resolved and then devoted himself in trying to help others. As a registered nurse he met his commitments with skill, empathy and dedication. His quick and sometimes subtle witticisms were enjoyed by those who understood him. Everyone was greeted with a smile and his laughter was always genuine; this you could see radiating from his eyes. He was very interested in the subject of personal health which he pursued throughout his life. He passionately shared that information with the people in his life. With great attention to details he also undertook projects for the benefit of his nieces, nephews and others in his life. Gilbert was an avid collector of rocks, gems and crystals that gave him tremendous joy. Gilbert also enjoyed the outdoors. He was an avid camper, canoeist and fisherman.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service. However, a web conferencing celebration of life will be held with his dispersed extended family. Interment will take place at a later date.
