Obituary for Helen Kyashko

Helen Kyashko (Wagil) of Coquitlam, British Columbia passed away on Friday, January 1, 2021 at the age of 92. She is survived by her son Coln, brother Peter, sister Ollie and many nieces nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Bill, her sisters Bessie, Polly, Mary and her brothers Bill, John and George. Helen was born on February 12, 1928 in Smoky Lake, Alberta to parents Maria and John. Unfortunately, her father died when she was still an infant. She lived on a farm with her family until her teenage years, when she contracted tuberculosis and had to finish her high school education in the hospital. Helen then received training for bookkeeping and was one for more than forty years for several different companies in Alberta and British Columbia.

She had a very sharp mind for finance. Helen was also an incredible cook in all areas from hor d'oeuvres, appetizers and salads to many different main dishes and all kind of desserts. She and her late husband Bill, who were married for over 55 years, enjoyed entertaining many dinner parties for family and friends at all times of the year for several decades. They also enjoyed travelling throughout North America over the years with family, friends and relatives.

Helen was always extremely kind, helpful and caring. Very special thanks to Elaine, Laura and Habiba for their care for Helen in her last years. Helen will be lovingly remembered and missed by family and friends.
