Obituary for Helen Reid (Schensney)

With hearts made richer by having her in our lives, it is with much sadness that the family announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Helen Reid. Left to cherish her memory are husband Murray, children Bryan (Bev), Trent (JoAnn) and Laurie (Ray). Helen also leaves grandchildren Cassidy, Trevor (Renee), Alicia (Jason), and Cherlyn (Zach), and great grandchildren Jackson, Madden, Leyton, and Tate.

Helen was born in Hafford, SK to Anna and Stanley Schensney, the second of five children. She grew up on the family farm north of Radisson, SK. It was there she learned the value of family. Yes, family was very important to Helen, and she enjoyed surrounding herself in their company. She made family gatherings extra special and instilled a strong sense of togetherness. Helen was a generous and loving person, with a big smile and a bigger heart. She loved cooking and entertaining, preparing many appetizing meals for family and friends over the years. We will always remember the joy she brought to our lives. Though Helen struggled with dementia in her final years, her sweet spirit never changed.

Helen is also survived by her sister Annette (Pollard); brother Lawrence (Grace), and brother-in-law Brent (Sherryl) Reid; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Helen was predeceased by her parents Anna and Stanley; sister Sophia (Tkachuk); brother Paul; sister-in-law Helen (Schensney); brothers-in-law Louis Tkachuk and Roy Pollard; in-laws Helen and Arthur Reid; Arthur’s second wife, Elsie; brother-in law Robert (Bob) Reid and his wife Sharon.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff of Belvedere Care Centre where Helen resided the past 25 months. Your care and compassion have not gone unnoticed, and for that the family are truly thankful.

A graveside service will take place at the cemetery in Sinclair, MB in 2022.
