Obituary for Jack Read
Beloved brother of Vern and Sharon (affectionately nicknamed Denny by her mother), loving uncle of Inger, Hillar, Mark, and Kris and adoring cousin of Alice, passed away unexpectedly at his home in East Vancouver on June 3, 2023.
Before his retirement in 2016, Jack was head of IT for the Geomatics and Geographic Information Systems programs at BCIT. Prior to this, he taught courses in CAD/CAM in the Mechanical Engineering Technology program. He was highly regarded by all who knew him.
Jack was born on July 10, 1956 in Calgary, Alberta to Alice Marie Read (née Knights, d. 2008) and Mervin Vern Read (d.1982). Our family is indebted to Jack’s dear friend Iris, who alerted authorities when he failed to show up for a weekly get-together.
In accordance with Jack’s wishes, a service will not be held.
