1938-2023
Our Great Patriarch
It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of our great family patriarch, James Ralph Waters (“Jim”) of Burnaby, BC who left this world on April 16, 2023 at the age of 84.
James, fondly known as Jim, was born in Vancouver, BC on May 22, 1938 to parents James and Gladys Waters. He served in the Navy and travelled to many places, but always said Burnaby would be his only home.
Jim worked for the CN Rail alongside his dad for many years before moving his career to the breweries, which came in handy when it was time to share a beer with friends and family.
He had a great sense of humour and loved to tease his loved ones. He loved his family with all of his heart and made sure each one of us knew it. In times of tragedy and triumph, we could always count on his steady guidance and support. His strength was the glue that kept our family strong. We will carry his spirit with us and honour him by following in his example. He will be greatly missed by all.
Jim leaves behind to mourn: his beloved wife Eileen, ex-wife Ardith, his children; Jamie, Crystal (Bill) Steve (Patti), Darren, Louise (Jim), Angela (Donny), son-in-law Brian and daughter-in-law Diana, Ben (Carol), Rick (Janice), and Debbie (Gerald), as well as 27 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren.
Jim is predeceased by his parents, his sister Evelyn, sons Darrel and Jeffery, daughters Sue and Michele, and grandson Michael.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday April 25, 2023 at 11:00 AM in the church hall of St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church at 2888 Delahaye Dr., Coquitlam, BC.
