Obituary for Jean Leona Ella Jackson

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our loving mother, Jean. Born March 17th 1932 to Ella and Carl Okert in Golden Prairie Saskatchewan. She met her husband Ken Jackson at N school, married in 1951 and taught together for a short time. They raised their four children in North Van, where Ken was a Principal for many years. After sailing to the South Pacific on their sailboat for a year, they retired to Coquitlam and continued to travel, especially enjoying their place in Arizona as Snowbirds.

Jean was blessed with many talents: sewing, crocheting, fabric arts, painting, flower arranging, stamping, calligraphy and card making. She enjoyed crafts and made many gifts for family and friends. She was a strong Christian and was involved in teaching Sunday School and women's bible studies. Jean loved people, was always smiling, singing and willing to lend a hand. She passed away peacefully at Zion Park Manor where she received excellent care from the Staff.

Jean was predeceased by her husband, Ken (2015); parents, Carl and Ella; and two of her children, Susan and Ross. She leaves behind four children (Shelley, Kim, Scott (Tania), Chris (Kelly)) a brother (Eldon) and three nephews (Kelly, Allan, Terence). Granny JJ also leaves behind seven grandchildren (Chelsea-Rose, Shane, Rachel, Matthew, Trevor, Joshua, Chris Jr.).

A memorial service will be held 2:30pm Friday January 24th at Burquitlam Funeral Home. Donations may be made in Jean’s memory to the Canadian Bible Society.
