Obituary for Joan Ellen Shaw (LeClerc)
It is with deep sorrow we announce our dear mothers passing on September 29,2022 at the age of 83 years old.
Joan and her husband Don moved to Sorrento, BC from the lower mainland several years ago to live out their retirement. After Don’s passing in 2017 Joan moved back to Burnaby in September of 2019 to be closer to her children. Previously a small business owner, Joan retired as a manager from Army and Navy Department Store at the age of 65 years old. Married for 59 years and widowed for just about 5 years Joan was deeply loved by her family and friends, with a smile that would light up the room. She was a loyal friend, and an animal lover, losing her little dog Joey, whom she adored, just a year prior. Many of Joan’s loves were gardening, baking, and socializing, appreciating the warmth of a chatter filled room with family and friends. Among many of Joan’s proud accomplishments was obtaining her Metis status in 2018 at the age of 79.
Joan is survived by her children, Kelly, Kari Lee and Glen, sister Marlene and her loving grandchildren, Chase, Jessi, Sarah, Jaxon and Jasmine.
UPDATE: The Celebration of Life will be held at The Burnaby Lake Clubhouse, 3670 Sperling Avenue, Burnaby, BC, from 1 -5 pm on April 29TH, 2023.
