Obituary for Joyce Annie Groulx

It is with heartbroken sadness that our family announces the passing of our dear mother, Joyce Annie Groulx (nee Davies), 89, of Coquitlam, BC. Mom passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early hours of May 27, 2018, due to natural causes. Joyce was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta in 1929, and enjoyed her early childhood in Calgary and Saskatoon, early teens in Nelson, BC, and graduated high school in Trail, BC. Joyce was a Registered Nurse and graduated from Nursing School in Victoria, BC in 1952. Joyce had many fond memories of growing up on the Prairies and in the Kootenays, and in her 20's, she enjoyed her travels through Canada and the U.S. with her good friend, Murt.

Joyce married and raised 3 children in California, then the family moved to Coquitlam, BC which became home for many years. After retiring from nursing, Joyce lived in Chilliwack for 18 years, then moved back to Coquitlam 5 years ago. Joyce was strong and reliable, fiercely independent, and infinitely loving, with a quick, witty sense of humour. She was always there for her children and grandchildren, caring and kind, with patience and practical advice.

Joyce is survived by her brother Bob Davies (Joan) and sister Marian Keay (Johnny); and by her children – Tom (Launa) and grandchildren Cara and Kevin; Caron (Glen) and grandchildren Jay, Christel, and Colton; and John (Patti) and granddaughter Claire. Joyce loved nature – trees, birds and butterflies in particular – and will be laid to rest under a tree in a lovely garden setting at Robinson Memorial Park in Coquitlam, BC. A private gathering of close family will take place. Joyce will be greatly missed. From one of Mom's favourite poems “Trees” by Joyce Kilmer: “A tree that may in summer wear, a nest of robins in her hair ...”

Mom - We love you dearly
