It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Justin Moniz.

Justin passed on April 15, 2023 at the age of 34. Justin will be remembered as a great friend to all that had the privilege of knowing him. Justin had a unique ability to light up any room he entered with his unforgettable charisma and charm. Justin possessed great talent in the arts, specifically street art and murals. Justin was a natural athlete in sports, specifically baseball, which he participated in from childhood up until the present day. As his teammates will concur his head was always in the game, he was a team player and he played with a passion to win! Justin also enjoyed snowboarding in the winter months. In addition, Justin followed in his Grandfather Edwards footsteps, who was a tugboat captain on the Fraser River. Justin served as a deckhand for the past 15 years. He loved his time spent on the river while working on the tugs, he truly enjoyed going to work each day often sharing pictures of spectacular sunsets on the Fraser River. Justin began running 12 step groups at the John Volken academy, highlighting his leadership abilities and his unconditional desire to help others through difficult times. Justins empathetic nature and desire to help touched many individuals lives also struggling with addiction. Justin will be missed dearly by many and forever remembered.

Justin was predeceased by his Baba (Grandmother) Frances Wagner, Grandfather Ernesto Moniz and Grandmother Laura Moniz. Justin is survived by his Mother Janice Wagner, Father Carlos Moniz (Gabriella Culosso), Grandfather (best friend) Edward Wagner, his Nonna Lilliana, Auntie Arleen Thordarson (Uncle David & Cousin Emily Thordarson), Aunt Julie Wagner (Cousins Rachel & Brandon Weber), Aunts Laura and Grace, Uncles Anthony, Ernesto, and Robert. Also survived by his step siblings Derek, Carolynn, and Jacqueline Chin, Cousins Nick, Ezra, Anna, Anthony, Gavin, Julia, Elizabeth, David, Ian and Eva.

Celebration of life will be held at 7:00 pm on Sunday May 7 at Riverside Community church
(2329 Fremont Connector, Port Coquitlam.)
