Obituary for Lawrence James Chubb

Lawrence James Chubb passed away peacefully, with family by his side, on September 24, 2013 in Coquitlam, BC, at the age of 84 years.

Lawrence was born in Limerick, Saskatchewan on December 3, 1928 to Louis and Laura Chubb (nee Trish).
In 1951, Lawrence married Mary Young and they started their life together in Regina, Saskatchewan, staying there for fourteen years and having three children.

His career in the dry cleaning industry lead them to various cities in Canada until 1972 when they moved to Kelowna and purchased Henderson Cleaners, which they successfully operated until 1981.
In retirement, Lawrence enjoyed golfing, playing bridge, traveling and spending time with his family.
In recent years, Lawrence’s health deteriorated and he spent the last two years of his life at Belvedere Care Centre in Coquitlam, B.C.

Lawrence was predeceased by his wife Mary (nee Young) in 1996 and his second wife, Marjorie Corbett (nee Flack) in 1998; brothers Cliff, Joe, Morley, Roy and Earl and sister Jean Franklin.

He will be lovingly remembered by his sons Ken (Suzanne) and Brian (Angie); daughter Diana (Jeff); ten grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, October 12 at 2:00 pm at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, B.C.

Donations will be gratefully accepted for the Canadian Diabetes Association.

The family would like to thank all of the staff at Belvedere Care Centre for the wonderful care that Lawrence received while he was there.
