Obituary for Leon Gerard Isaacs

It is with immense heartache we announce the sudden passing of Leon Gerard Isaacs on Thursday December 4, 2023 at the age of 56.

Leon is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Rita; his beloved sons, Matthew and Jack; his parents, Nancy and Terry, brother Darryl, sister Terri, brothers and sisters in law (Robert, Tina, Walter and Darcy), nieces and nephews, many extended family members and friends who became family.

Leon was passionate about many things; working out, perfecting his BBQ and smoked meats, his fantasy football team, hockey and lacrosse. Not only did Leon coach both his boys for many years, but he was also a mentor to many other young players. He nurtured and encouraged and looked for teachable moments, leaving special memories with his boys and so many that he encountered.
Leon was most passionate about his family. He glowed when speaking about his boys and was so proud of the amazing young men they were becoming. As his boys continued in sports, he stepped aside as a coach and became their biggest fan. He provided guidance and advice on educational and career choices while always letting them take the lead. He always left them with little nuggets of information to think about as they made their choices. Little did they know they would soon be drawing on his strength and those nuggets to carry on his legacy.

While Leon left us far too soon, the impact he had on our family and friends will leave treasured memories of him forever. Leon, we will forever miss your laugh, your sense of humour, your smiling eyes and your endless love. We love you so much and miss you.
At Leon’s request, a private family service will take place and a celebration of his life will be scheduled in May 2024. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Heart and Stoke Foundation heartandstroke.ca or Transplant Research Foundation of B.C.- https://www.trfbc.org.
