Obituary for Lloyd Paul Davidson

The Captain has left his ship in its earthly port.
Lloyd "Skip" Paul Davidson born September 13,1937 passed away peacefully on July 17, 2022 under the care of the wonderful staff at Foyer Maillard in Coquitlam. Dad worked hard (often at multiple jobs) to provide for his family. Most notedly he enjoyed pulling barges up and down the coast for Seaspan. Dad had a soft heart for his children and never complained about his declining post stroke physical condition in his twilight years; he was a typical navy man. Dad also spent countless hours being a Dad - throwing ball, playing goalie at close range (and all that entails !) in our then unfinished basement and taking his children ("kids' was no longer allowed as it made us sound like "billy goats") to hockey practice and our various other endeavors. Good memories also include his late night head rubs with his beer (Dad loved his Old Style) and cigarette smelling hands when he would come home thinking we were asleep. It was comforting to Dad to say Goodnight to his children and reassuring to us to know he had arrived at home port again. These and many other memories are the comfort of Dad's surviving children Colleen "Squirrel" (Aaron),John "Porky" (Cyndee) and Clint "Hoss", and grandchildren Cordell "D-Day plus one", and Kimberley "Kraft Dinner". We would like to thank Dad's many friends who helped him over the years particularly post stroke and to special friends Lorne Donaldson -a life long friend now deceased, George and Donna Stevenson for their weekly visits bringing Dad Dad's Cookies, and to Larrie Forbes for his ongoing help, meaningful conversation and support for Dad. Dad was a longtime member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Canadian Merchant Services Guild, Vancouver Naval Veterans Association, and a lifetime member of the Vancouver Naval Veterans Band. If desired, in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Vancouver Naval Veterans Band.
There will be no service at this time; a Naval Veterans service is contemplated for September.
