Obituary for Lois Mae Kirkwood

Lois Mae Kirkwood (nee Campbell) passed away peacefully after a brief stay at Crossroads Hospice in Port Moody. Survived by her husband of over 61 years, Dr Kenneth Kirkwood, sons Neil and his wife Sandy, John, and daughter Anne and her husband Jim, grandchildren Aaron, Megan, Jocelyn, Scott and Nicole.

Lois was born in Alberta but was raised in Penticton BC. She moved to Vancouver to pursue her nursing career at St Paul’s Hospital. There she met and married Ken and shortly after gave up nursing to raise her family in Burnaby.

Lois was active in sports and recreation, including bowling, golf and especially curling at the Burnaby Winter Club where she met many wonderful friends who have stayed close over the years. Lois and Ken also loved travelling, and took many trips to the Caribbean, Hawaii, and Mexico before switching to international cruising. Additionally they enjoyed the outdoors and embarked on many fishing trips on the BC coast as well as numerous camping road trips to Northern and Interior BC, Yukon and Alaska. Lois was always excited to see any wildlife, but was especially fond of seeing bears and moose.

There will be no service but a celebration of her life will be scheduled later. In lieu of flowers, Lois asked that donations be made to the SPCA.
