Obituary for Mario Dalla Zanna

DALLA ZANNA, Mario Antonio

Dec 8, 1942 - July 24, 2023

It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the loss of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, Mario Antonio Dalla Zanna, who passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Monday, July 24th, 2023 at the age of 80 years.

He will be deeply missed by his loving and devoted wife of 55 years, Bruna (née Pasqual), son David (Daniela) and children Natasha (Matt), Ashley (Logan), Chantal, Zack, and great-granddaughter Ayla; daughter Nadia (Chris) and children Brandon (Afke), Brittni, Madison, and great-granddaughter Giorgia; daughter Milly (Alex) and children Matteo, Dominic, Vanessa, and Annika; son Anthony (Emanuela) and children Mia, Alyssa, Capri, and Desigal; daughter Andrea (Charbel) and children Michaela, Nicholas, Christian, and Romeo.

He will also be mourned by his sisters Lina (Giannino) and Rosita (Bruno), sister in law Nilde Dalla Zanna and many other sister/brother in laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends both here in Canada and in Italy. He was predeceased by his beloved grandson and fishing partner, Jordan Wolczyk, his brother Renato, his parents Antonio and Maria (née Dallan) and his step-father Emilio Dalla Zanna.

Mario’s life began at the height of WWII on December 8th, 1942 in the small town of Sant’Eulalia, Borso del Grappa, Treviso. After completing his service with the Italian army in the Alpini regiment, he immigrated to Canada in 1965 and married Bruna in 1967. Together they built a family and life here in Canada. In 1972, he opened Inlet Electric, an electrical contracting company that built his legacy in the community.

He was a proud Italian immigrant who was also a member of the Trevisani Nel Mondo di Vancouver. Disciplined and dedicated, his strong work ethic and accomplishments in life leave large shoes to fill. Fondly known as ‘Nonno’, he set an incredible example of devotion to his family, always making them his priority and offering his words of wisdom to his children and grandchildren. Mario had many interests from history, gardening, traveling and nature, but his greatest interest of all was his love of fishing in Bamfield. He is loved and missed beyond words.

Prayers will be offered on Tuesday Aug. 1st at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday Aug. 2nd at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish in Port Coquitlam. He will then be laid to rest at the Port Coquitlam Cemetery.
