It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Michael, 67 of Coquitlam, BC. He was the son of the late Hubert Leger and Genevieve (Leger) Browne (Born Marangoni) of Shediac, NB

Besides his mother, Michael will be sadly missed by his son, Seann of Vancouver BC, his daughter Doneal and her husband Rick Alward of Coquitlam BC, his precious grand children Roman, Willow and Autumn. Also left to mourn are his siblings Donald (Monique) Shediac NB, Denise Gautreau (Jean) Grand-Barachois NB, Janice Wombolt (Jim) Halifax NS, Joel (Bernice) St. Andre-LeBlanc NB, Virginia Soucy (Pierre) Shediac NB, Adele Leger Calgary AB and Anita Lahey (Iain MacGowan) Bridgewater NS.

Michael will also be missed by Genoa, mother of his children, a special grandson Dylan and best friend and chess mate Gerry Cooke.

Michael is predeceased by his father Hubert Leger (1987), his brothers Gerald (1964) and Robert (2017), his nephew Joshua Leger (2001), his brother-in-law Dave Lahey (2016) and stepfather Ron Browne (2004).

Michael had a caring heart and his first love was his family. He also had a life-long love for music, especially his drums which he played in several house bands in his early years and “jamming” with friends in later years.

Cremation has taken place at Burquitlam Funeral Home in Coquitlam BC. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

I will truly miss Mike but he will always be in my head & my heart every day. I met Mike 11 years ago through Jerry Cook & we have been great friends ever since. I was so happy to help Mike find both his Daughter & Son then he found out he was a grandpa. I will never forget that day because it mad him so happy for finally getting to be able to have them back in his life. I did not get a chance to have a hug the last time I went to see Mike because of the Covid 19 XOXO.

Thanks for sharing your message with us. I am Mike's sister, Denise, from NB We didn't see Mike very often but were fortunate to have him with us 2 years ago for a Leger Family Reunion. We were able to catch up then and we have lots of photos and fond memories of that visit.

My condolences to the whole family and to Mike's family in BC.
We went to the same school, grew up in the same small town and ran in the same circles.Hadn't seen him for a number of years but it sounds like he was still the same guy.

I still remember the day that I was introduced to Mike Leger and his good buddy Ronnie LeBlac. Two dear growing up friends of mine met them in the spring of 74 or 75. As I approached Sheilas little house in Cloverdale they were all piling out of the back door. A very friendly, funny brash couple of Acaidians from the Lobster Capital of the Canada! And maybe the World! Instantly likeable, vibrent with music yet humble but enthusiastic about it. Which may sound weird but he was good guy who loved to play drums. When he discover myself and some other soon to be mutual friends were two guitars and a bass player, well we had a band! And there is a whole lot of growing pains since. We have been throuht so much crap together that it boggles the imagination. We had only just reconnected after a long spell of not being connected. Not knowing that you were living so close to me that we could have met more often and before things got to the point were they have been the past couple of years. Our last words on the phone were harsh and I wish so desperately they were not because I never got the chance. As new and poor as I was at being a Best Man, for you and Genoa I loved you both dearly. You became part of our home town and won places in our hearts that are now empy. But death is not the end, no it is a new beginning and I pray with all my heart that it is and we meet again. Richard

You are terribly missed dear brother. I'm so glad we got to travel home to see mom and have a big family reunion in 2018. To all family, and those near and dear, I look forward to the opportunity to gather and celebrate the life of Mike for whom life was simple as long as he could share the love.

This is mainly for Doneal & Rick and the children. I'm speaking on behalf of Michael's mother and siblings. We cannot thank you enough for all that you have done for Michael since you found each other several years ago. When Michael was here in Shediac, NB for our 2018 Leger Family Reunion he couldn't say enough about how happy he was living with your family. He adored all of you and told many stories of how precious you all were to him. When he spoke of you, he just beamed!!! It's very sad that he had to go so soon. We know he would have had so many more happy years with you. The children were his life. Mom is having a difficult time with Michael's passing. He's the 3rd child she has lost. Of course, she would have given her life in a minute if it would be possible to have Michael back. She has very fond memories of their visit in 2018. While everyone else was going to the beach or other places, Michael chose to stay with his mom. Those were precious hours spent talking, reminiscing and laughing together. Please know that our thoughts have been and are with you in this very sad time. God Bless.
