Obituary for Norma Elaine Johnson (Jones)

Norma was born in the small town of Brockville Ontario in January 1947 to parents Harold and Ada Jones and older sister Merilyn. Growing up she was a fun-loving child who enjoyed being outside and exploring the world around her – no matter what trouble it got her into! As a teenager and into early adulthood Norma was active in the Anglican Church in Brockville and participated in the choir and youth groups there. During this time she also developed a love of horses and riding that would last throughout her life.

While in her Nursing residency at Brockville General Hospital, Norma met Frank Johnson though a friend and the two began dating and would later marry in 1972. Four years later the couple had their first child Peter and would have another son, Jason in 1979. In the mid-1980s the family relocated to Coquitlam, British Columbia where the boys grew-up and attended school.

In her free time Norma was an avid reader, talented gardener and dedicated friend. In the summer months she loved spending time with her family enjoying the beauty of the wilderness camping in the Kamloops area. When the boys left home and started families Frank and Norma became passionate dog owners in which they have taken much joy throughout the years.

Norma was greatly loved by her five grandchildren Hali, Jessica, Alexandra, Parker and Mila who were naturally drawn to her warm smile and soft touch.

Norma lived her life with courage, dedication to family and a deep wisdom that brought a unique perspective to those people around her. Norma was always willing to listen and support those around her through the many challenges and adversities of life, with an open mind and large heart. Her love, spirit and warmth will be with us always.
