Condolence From: E Sim
Condolence: I am deeply saddened by the news of Peter's passing. Peter and I were fellow classmates in civil engineering school at UBC. We attended classes, worked on assignments and crammed for many exams together in the CEME building. Peter will always be remembered as a good person - kind, hardworking and always giving his very best effort. I will always cherish one especially memorable occasion way back in the winter months of 1980. Peter invited me along with several other classmates for an intense study session at his home. Upon our arrival at his house, Peter greeted us with his usual welcoming smile; he then proceeded to hand out sweaters to each and every one of us. A little surprised, someone asked, "Hey Peter, what's with the sweaters?" With a semi-serious look on his face, Peter replied:"I think we should be able to concentrate better if the house is not so warm and so I turned off the furnace and cut off all the heating to the house.” “But just in case it's too cold for you, here are some sweaters” he said. That was certainly thinking out of the box, being innovative and doing things differently. During the past three decades, these thoughts have always brought an instant smile and happy memories of Peter. My deepest condolences to the family. E Sim
