Richard (Ric) William Sisson
June 3, 1950 - October 18, 2020
Born in Trail B.C. to Vivian and Dick Sisson
Ric attended schools in Coquitlam B.C.
Ric started driving tow truck for his Father's business, Coquitlam Towing and Storage Ltd. around 1968. Later, he and his brother Rob would carry on the business and built it up to be one of the most respected Towing Companies in B.C.
On June 12, 1971 he married Sandy and raised their two daughters, Sheryl-Ann and Sandra in Maple Ridge B.C.
Ric volunteered for many years as a Kinsman always wanting to help others, in addition, he also volunteered as Chairman of the Towing Division of the Automotive Retailers Association (ARA) from 1979-1981.
Over the years, Ric held many positions on the main Board of Directors of the ARA. First as a Director at large and later in the position of Vice Chairman.
In 1983, Ric brought forward the idea of the ARA Towing Division organizing and hosting a Tow Truck Rodeo. The idea was adopted and Ric went to work arranging for a location to hold the event.
The first Rodeo was held in Maple Ridge. The show was such a success that Ric went onto organize many more shows in the years following and earned himself the title as "Rodeo-Ric".
Companies came from all over the Northwest U.S. as well as from Sask, Alberta and of course the entire Province of B.C.
In later years, Ric stepped back from the enormous task of Chairing the Tow Shows, however, he remained on the organizing committee as a consultant with his wealth of knowledge.
Ric rarely missed an ARA Towing meeting, he was always there giving the newer members of the Industry the benefit of his years of experience.
He spent many years sitting on committee's in negotiation with the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC) helping to set policies that remain today. He was never afraid to stand up and voice his opinion.
As Ric approached the age that many would have retired, he remained involved in the family business. However, he and Sandy enjoyed spending a lot of time at their secondary residence in Las Vegas and travelled around the U.S.A. attending Coca-Cola shows.
Ric and Sandy's home has an incredible collection of Coca-Cola memorabilia.
Ric was truly "One of a Kind" individual who will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
