The family of Shane Assen of Vancouver is saddened to announce his sudden passing on October 30th, 2019.

The youngest son of Agnes Comte and Benyoucef Assen, Shane was born in Montreal on January 17th, 1996, He grew up in Coquitlam with his sister Cynthia and brother Neil. He was tragically predeceased by his parents in 2013. He moved to Vancouver in 2016, and was working to develop his love of art and his musical career. He surrounded himself with artistically minded friends, and is remembered for encouraging those around him to pursue their passions. His compassion and love for friends shone through his own struggles in the way he helped others with theirs. His cheeky smile and love for making others laugh will be missed by all who knew him.

A public celebration of life will be held at Burquitlam Funeral Home in Coquitlam on Saturday, November 16th. All are invited to attend. There will be an opportunity for friends to share their memories of him.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to Coast Mental Health.
