Obituary for Skip Cecil Fredrick Skipworth

SKIPWORTH - Clarence (Skip) Cecil Fredrick, passed away suddenly on July 1, 2023, at Royal Columbian Hospital. He had suffered a stroke just after lunch on July 1st and was rushed to RCH where he passed away peacefully.

He was predeceased by his wife Lynda in 2008, whom he dearly missed, by his father George and mother Mary, brother in laws, Ed and Mel. He is survived by his sisters, Loraine, Mary, Dorothy (Ken), Carol (Ken) and Violet, daughters Lynn (Jerry), Sharon (Vic) and Janine (Don), sons Darryl (Heather) and Kevin, six grandchildren, Ashley, Tara, Zach, Josh, Rebecca and Jack and many nieces and nephews.

Skip was born at St Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver on August 26, 1933, and spent his whole life in the Vancouver area.

Skip met Lynda, the love of his life in 1968 and they married in August 1971. He worked in the Engraving Dept of Pacific Press for 23 years, enjoying his time working for The Vancouver Sun and The Province and retired from there in 1994.

In July 1981, Skip & Lynda visited Skip’s sister Dorothy in Birch Bay, saw a place for sale across from hers and 15 days later the family had their home away from home that would be a big part if their lives and introduce them to many friends. Skip was nicknamed the mayor of Edgewater where the trailer was and then spent his remaining years at Arbourside Court Retirement Home where he was known as Mr. Arbourside.

A celebration of life will be held on August 26th at a location to be determined.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC in Skip’s name.
