Obituary for Sonia Maxine McLennan
Sonia Maxine McLennan, age 82, passed away peacefully August 23 surrounded by family.
Sonia was born in Vancouver BC in April 1941, the oldest of 5 children. She was married to Dennis in November 1968. She loved her family, and was very devoted to her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed hosting large family gatherings, volunteering, gardening, sewing, traveling and golfing. She had a bright mind, a quick wit and a generous heart. Despite the challenges of the past few years as Parkinson’s Disease robbed her independence, Sonia maintained a positive attitude and delighted in conversing with those who visited and cared for her.
Sonia is predeceased by her beloved husband, Dennis and survived by her children Erin (Mark) and Tara (David), grandchildren Joshua, Noah, Zachariah, Lucy, and Max, brother Ernie (Cheryl), and sisters Vera and Betty, and extended family. Also predeceased by her sister Lucy.
The family would like to express our deep gratitude to the wonderful staff at the Madison Care Centre for their compassionate and loving care for Sonia.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Northside Foursquare Church (1460 Lansdowne Drive, Coquitlam) on September 2 at 1:00pm, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to either Parkinson Canada or the Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation.
