Obituary for Stanley George Wheeldon

WHEELDON, STANLEY GEORGE (Stan the Man)
Born August 3, 1934, on the family farm at Peel Township, Wellington
County, Ontario to Ted and Mildred Wheeldon. Stan passed away in
Coquitlam, BC on January 31, 2024, at the age of 89.

Stan is survived by his wife Ruth, sisters Ann Armstrong and Vivien Roy,
many nieces and nephews, and his children Craig (Susan) and Liana (Ron).

Introduced by friends, Stan and Ruth married in 1954, in Harriston, ON and
lived in Kitchener and Burlington before relocating their family to Coquitlam, BC in 1973.

Stan worked in sales, starting with life insurance and later with Robin Hood Flour, until he was recruited to BC by Wespac, selling RV parts. He was a Manager with Translite Distributors until launching his own building supply sales agency, Spiral Marketing, in 1982. Stan and Ruth worked and successfully grew the business together until selling it to their son Craig in 2005. Working in this industry allowed Stan to travel extensively across Canada and to many places around the world.

When at home, Stan loved working in the garden, listening to music, and entertaining friends and neighbours with his quick wit and silly shenanigans. He was the ‘prankster’ of the neighbourhood and you could always count on him for a laugh.

Stan lived in the home that he and Ruth designed and built together until his passing, tinkering in the yard, chatting to neighbours, and enjoying the beautiful scenery.

The family will have a private interment at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please share a joke and laugh with someone – friend, family, or stranger.
