Obituary for Bill Miller

William (Bill) Miller - December 29th, 1937-September 3rd, 2021

Bill was a loving and caring father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, spouse, and friend. He was a proud Scotsman, born in Aberdeen, and later immigrated to Canada with his family in 1969. He was a football referee for FIFA, the CONCACAF region, and the North American Soccer League; he also served his time in the British Army. Bill was a devoted volunteer for the Wilson Seniors Centre in Port Coquitlam, later becoming the Centre's President. Bill was courageous and kind, and always greeted you with a smile. He had a great sense of humour and was the life of the party; he always knew how to give the perfect speech for any occasion. He was greatly passionate about music and singing - especially jazz and traditional Scottish tunes - and he passed down his love for the arts to his family and friends. Bill was predeceased by his son Paul, and two siblings, Lena and Sandy. He is survived by his wife Lynda, daughter Coleen (Harry), son Mark (Rae-Ann), grandchildren Kyle (Shelby), Tammera (Ken), and Hailey, his great-grandson Jack, three siblings Sadie, Tommy, and Raymond, and many nieces and nephews. He will be dearly missed by his family in Canada, Scotland, and the United States. We will hold such treasurable memories of him close to our hearts and cherish the good times and wisdom that he shared throughout his life. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to either BC Children's Hospital or the Alzheimer Society of British Columbia, on Bill's behalf, to honour his wishes.
