Angelina, was born on April 10, 1936 in Laguna Philippines to Mateo and Amparo Garcia. She was the second daughter of four children. A woman full of talent, Angelina enjoyed the gift of music. Her powerful voice captivated the hearts of many and even won a singing contest in "Tawag Ng Tanghalan". She was invited to sing on a radio program, where her voice also captured the heart of her Nonilo, a young advertising agent. From there their fairy-tale story began. Having eight beautiful children, Angelina and Nonilo worked selflessly to ensure the best for their family. Through persistence and dedication Angelina and Nonilo opened up their own restaurant. She was able to apply her passion for cooking into her daily work amidst the chaos of raising eight children.
A woman of faith, Angelina also instilled the importance of the love of God in each of her children. She assured that Sundays were only set for the Lord and time with family. Much of her time (aside from work & family responsibilities) was devoted in prayer and serving the Lord and the church through her music. A social butterfly, she enjoyed hosting and serving large parties for family and friends; opening her arms to many considering them as her own. Tirelessly, she worked and served until she was struck with her first stroke in 1992 but, with her fighting spirit she recovered fully and continued to work.
In 1994, Nonilo, Angelina and the family migrated to Canada with the support of Ernie and Rebecca. Here, they persevered through odd jobs in order to sustain for the family. She suffered her second stroke, disabling the left side of her body and impeding her speech. Slowly, Angelina's condition continued to impair her both mentally and physically. She had no choice, but to endorse her care to Hawthorne Care Center, but through it all her joyful spirit remained.
Over the course of her last few days, she was surrounded by all her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren until she fought her last breath on Monday July 21, 2014 at 11:05AM.
