It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Anja Jokinen, beloved wife to Juhani for 51 years and mother to Robert, Michelle, Terry and grandmother to Dillon, Brandon, Nicholas, Kari and Leena. She will also be lovingly remembered by family in Finland: sisters Kerttu Junno and Marjatta Pylkkanen (Toivo) and brother Vesa Paananen (Anneli), and many nephews, nieces and friends in Canada and Finland. She was predeceased by her brother Seppo and sister Liisa. Anja was born in Pielavesi, Finland and immigrated with her husband to Canada in 1966, settling in Vancouver, BC. She lived a life helping and caring for others before her journey with Alzheimers. The family would like to thank the staff at Lakeshore Care Centre and Royal Columbian Hospital. A Celebration of Life will be held at Emmaus Lutheran Church, 6344 Sperling Avenue, Burnaby on November 1st, 2013 at 11:00AM. In lieu of flowers, donations are accepted to Emmaus Lutheran Church or to any charity of your choice.
