Obituary for Audrey Beth Lactin
September 27, 1939 – October 20, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we share the peaceful passing of Audrey Beth Lactin (nee Dixon) on October 20, 2024 after a long illness. Audrey was predeceased in 2008 by her loving husband of 47 years, John and by her mother Eva in 1995 as well as her father, Harry in 1964.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Heather (Kevin), grandsons Sam and Josh (the lights of her life), stepson Derek, granddaughter Amy (Brenn and great grandson Robbie), sister Judi (Dennis), niece Lara (Shahab), nephew David (Jessti) and a multitude of loving cousins.
Audrey was a teacher in the Coquitlam school district for many years before retiring in her early 50’s, after which she was able to explore her passion for travel with her husband John. They travelled the world by both land and sea creating lifelong memories.
Audrey adored her grandsons and loved being a grandmother spending many years caring for them while they were growing up.
She was also a very active volunteer who spent countless hours working with the Tri-Cities SHARE family and community services as well as the Coquitlam Gogos.
She was an avid bridge player and played with the same group of neighbourhood ladies for well over 50 years.
The family is eternally grateful to the staff at Eagle Ridge Hospital’s Hillside Manor and the Shaughnessy Care Centre for their loving and compassionate care. The staff continually commented that she was such a lovely lady, so sweet and always smiling.
Funeral service will take place on Monday, December 2, 2024 at 2pm in St. Laurence Anglican Church, 825 St. Laurence Street, Coquitlam with a social gathering to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Audrey can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.
