Beverley Kernighan
September 23, 1928 to May 5, 2015
Our beautiful Beverley left us to join Ronald (d.2004), her beloved husband of 56 years. Beverley leaves to mourn her three children - Tim (Edie), Sarah Moen and Jane (Roger), four grandchildren - Katie (Jesse), Jenna, George and Katrina, great grandchild Dayton Lee, sister Diana Hoy, nieces and nephews Susan (Craig), Michael (Norma), Lori (David d. 1998), Ron (Lila) and Linda (Bryan) and their families.
Beverley was born in Vancouver and raised in Boston Bar, the younger daughter of Phyllis and Robert Flann. After graduation from Chilliwack High School, she studied at Normal School in Vancouver to become a primary teacher. Beverley taught in Fort Langley, a little town she loved and often returned to visit.
Beverley met Ron under the Birk's Clock on a blind date arranged by Ron's sister, Bernice. They were married on August 7th, 1948 and moved to Rochester Avenue in Coquitlam where they established a warm and welcoming home for their family and many friends. Bev felt very fortunate to live in such a wonderful neighbourhood surrounded by close friends. She played Monday night "bridge with the girls" for over forty years.
Beverley loved the sun on her face and long strolls by the ocean. She also loved gardening and was often found barefoot outdoors tending an array of flowers and vegetables in her stunning gardens. Beverley's passing has left a void in all of our hearts. We love you dearly, Bev.
A Celebration of Bev's life will be held on Saturday, June 6th at 2 PM at the Burquitlam Funeral Home 625 North Road Coquitlam.
