“Esther” Bin Choo Seah of Richmond, BC died on June 7, 2024 at Hamilton Village Care Centre after a long journey with end stage dementia and progressive supranuclear palsy. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family.
She was born on December 19, 1950, the youngest of four children to Madame Koh Kam Sai and Mister Seah Ah Long in Singapore. She attended the National University of Singapore where she completed her Bachelor of Arts and Monash University in Melbourne, Australia where she received her Master’s of Business Administration. She worked as a Syndications Officer and Assistant Manager at Dresdner Bank before she met her husband Kok-Khuan “Elliot” Chew, whom she married in 1987.
She emigrated to Canada in 1989 and persevered as a new immigrant and mother of three children. She had multiple jobs over the years including being a Business Owner of 2 local convenience stores and a flower store, then was a Cosmetician and a Real Estate Agent.
She had a strong Christian faith and above all cared for her family with unconditional love that she learned from her walk as a Follower of Jesus Christ. She was dedicated to ensuring that her children had post-secondary educations and a wide breadth of life experiences to better their futures and sacrificed much to make this happen for them.
Esther was predeceased by her parents and brother Winston. She will be greatly missed and remembered by her husband Elliot; children Leon (Lucy), Leanne (Roy) and Lenox; grandchildren Ariella, Celeste and Alyssa; and brothers Beng Hua (Lay Choo) and Meng Chong (Wendy).
She will be laid to rest on Tuesday June 25, 2024 at Surrey Centre Cemetery (16670 60 Ave Surrey BC) at 2 pm with Pastor Tom Mei officiating.
The family is grateful to all of the staff at Hamilton Village Care Centre for their exemplary care and compassion for Esther over the last few years.
