Brenda Derbyshire

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Brenda Jean Derbyshire on January 17, 2025, at the age of 78. Brenda was born in Brighton, Sussex, England, and in 1957, she moved to Canada with her parents, George and Gladys, and her sister, Audrey. Together, they made a new home in Vancouver, where Brenda would go on to build a life filled with love, laughter, and a few too many cups of tea.

In 1969, Brenda married Gerry, and together they raised two daughters: Erin (Adrian) and Jen. Brenda was the proud grandma to Kieran, Deaglan, and Lachlan, who kept her laughing and incredibly proud.

Brenda loved all her Scottie dogs, was a lifelong fan of Elton John, actively attended live theatre, and enjoyed traveling, playing golf, winning at crib and was known for being an exceptional cook.

A heartfelt thank you to the staff at Eagle Ridge Hospital, especially those in Ward E2A, for Brenda’s very thoughtful care. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation.

Brenda leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories, and she will always be in our hearts. A Celebration of Life for Brenda will be held in the summer of 2025.
