Brenda Faustin

June 19, 1946 — March 25, 2025

Brenda was born in Trinidad, West Indies. Predeceased by her father, Raymond Roberts, mother, Leonora Sampson Adams and was the last surviving of her siblings:  Philma King, Elthia Bruce, Alson Bruce and Aldwyn Bruce. Brenda leaves behind her son, Brendon Faustin and daughter Arlene Payne (Ed), grandchildren: Geoffrey, Giordan and Shania and great-granddaughter, Aaliyah. Brenda also leaves behind many nieces and nephews in Trinidad, too many to name individually.

Brenda attended Eastern Girls Government School where she earned a scholarship to attend Bishop Anstey High School. She then taught at San Juan Secondary School and Progressive High School before emigrating to Canada in 1970 and marrying John Otto Faustin (deceased) that same year. After having several different types of jobs, Brenda eventually decided on a career in healthcare. She worked as a nurse aid for 25 years and became a Registered Nurse which she worked at for 15 years before retiring in 2010.

Over the past several years, Brenda has been battling various health ailments most recently undergoing surgery for breast cancer just three short months ago. However, the daunting road ahead and the continual pains all proved too great for her and she suffered a heart attack.

Brenda loved to dance and had a love of music, most particularly calypso from her birth country. She loved sports and was always a fierce spectator when she attended her grandchildren’s soccer games and track meets. She had a quick wit and was also a phenomenal card player – often inventing by her own rules.

Brenda was unapologetically herself to the bitter end. Even with her failing health, she refused to go into any type of assisted living, wanted to live out her days at home – which is exactly what she did. To steal a quote from Sinatra "she did it her way".

Brenda will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
