HOLTBY, Brett Joseph
July 18, 1981—August 12, 2013

It is with great sadness that we announce the much too soon passing of Brett Holtby on Monday, August 12, 2013 at the age of 32 years with family by his side. Brett will always be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his parents Stan and Barb, sister Jaymie, partner Kim, as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and wonderful friends. He is predeceased by his grandparents Ed and Hilda Whitlam, and Stan and Sally Holtby.

Born in New Westminster on July 18, 1981, Brett grew up in Coquitlam and spent his youth playing minor hockey and lacrosse. His summers were spent at his much loved family cabin on Okanagan Lake, and Kim’s families’ cabin in Sechelt. Brett loved being in the company of his family and many friends, as well as spending time with his loyal dog, Tally.

Brett was very passionate about the education he received. After graduating from Centennial High School, Brett completed a Certificate of Criminal Justice and Associate Arts degree. He also completed the RCMP summer student program, Fire Science program, and Occupational Health and Safety as well as numerous first aid courses. We are very proud of Brett for his many accomplishments.

Brett will be remembered for his humor, generosity, love and unwavering courage.

A special thank you to the ICU doctors and nurses at Surrey Memorial Hospital, as well as the doctors and nurses at Vancouver General Hospital for their care, kindness and compassion.

A celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, September 6, 2013 at Burquitlam Funeral Home, 625 North Road, Coquitlam B.C. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the BCSPCA, or Canadian Blood Services in memory of Brett.
