STYAN, CHRISTOPHER MARK – Beloved son, brother, husband and father born September 19th, 1962 in Rossland B.C. passed away after a very short but courageous battle with cancer in Burnaby on May 1st 2018 . Survived by his children, Callum Styan and Tara Styan who were the light and love of his life, wife Linda Frost, parents Garrie and Bev Styan, sister Nadine and brother Greg.
Chris grew up in North Burnaby playing many years with Cliff Ave. Soccer and graduated from Burnaby North Secondary School. His great passion and relaxation was his music. Chris learned to play many instruments and played with several bands through the years. He also enjoyed carving yellow cedar, whale teeth and painting and designing tattoos in Haida style. Chris picked up languages quickly and easily. Chris was a team player in everything he was involved with…sports, work, music and family.
Chris worked as an IT expert and then a consultant in Economics, Forestry and Renewable Energy. His work took him to many places in North and South America, Europe, and Australasia. The last project he was working on was the concept of designing and building small homes for street people and ex-convicts needing help.
He will be missed by many and was a great inspiration to those he came into contact with. He will be remembered for his intellect, fairness, caring nature, infectious smile, mischievous sense of humour and readiness to share a good time. He made a positive difference to all our lives.
A celebration of Chris’ life will be announced at a later date.
Memorial Donations may be made in memory of Chris to the Sarah McLachlan School of Music.
