Obituary

In Loving Memory of Claudio Rivera Dacumos Jr.

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Claudio Rivera Dacumos Jr. on June 4, 2026, at Eagle Ridge Hospital, Port Moody.

Born on September 9, 1941, in Mandaluyong, Rizal, Philippines, Claudio was the fifth of seven children born to Claudio Dacumos Sr. and Alegria Rivera Dacumos. Through hard work and determination, he put himself through university as a working student and earned a degree in Architecture—an achievement he treasured throughout his life, proudly wearing his class ring until the day he passed.

In 1969, Claudio met the love of his life, Maria Vida Ventura Dacumos, through mutual friends. They married on his birthday in 1970 and shared 55 years of marriage. Together they welcomed their son, Jose Claudio, in 1974 and immigrated to Canada in January 1975. Their daughter, Melissa Anne, was born in 1977, and in 1982 the family made Coquitlam their home.

Claudio enjoyed a long and respected career, retiring in 2023 at the age of 81. He most recently worked with Jordan Kutev Architect Inc. from 2006 until his retirement.

Above all, Claudio was a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather. He was a constant provider whose quiet strength, hard work, and unwavering support gave his family stability and comfort throughout his life.

Claudio leaves behind his beloved wife, Maria Vida Ventura Dacumos; his children, Jose Claudio Dacumos and Melissa Anne Dacumos; his granddaughter, Vanessa Dacumos Pizarro; his son-in-law, Ed Failano and his children Evan and Mia; his brother, Reynaldo Dacumos; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends who will miss him greatly.
