"Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Daniel Chan, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on February 5, 2021, 11:15am, at Richmond General Hospital, at the age of 66 years.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Daisy; children: Victor and Ayako, Nelly and William and Jake and Shirley; grandchildren: Kei, Rei and Sophie; as well as numerous relatives and friends.
Daniel Soe Than Chan (Pee Wee by nickname) was born on November 5, 1954 in Yangon, Myanmar. A rebel at heart, Daniel was a free soul who always took the road less travelled often preferring to play the guitar and listen to rock music over studying to be a doctor like his mother wanted. His favourite band was the Eagles. He was a sociable stubborn man but the kindest man at heart. Daniel met Daisy in the University of Yangon and started dating when they were 18 years old. Daniel and Daisy dated for almost 8 years and then got married and had three beautiful children. Daniel and Daisy raised their children together in Yangon until February 2, 2002. Wanting a better life for his kids, Daniel left the home he loved so much and moved his family to Canada. Life was not always easy for Daniel during the first few years in Canada; sometimes having to work multiple jobs but being the family man that he was, he spared no expenses to ensure his wife and children had access to all the privileges this country had to offer. Daniel and Daisy were together for almost 48 years. Upcoming January 10, 2022 would have been their 40th wedding anniversary.
As Daniel started transitioning into semi retirement, he found joy in taking care of his koi fish and goldfish, trying different cuisines and most of all being an incredible grandfather to his three grandchildren.
"To the world you may be just one person, but to one person, you just may be the world." Daniel most certainly was our world and he will forever be missed but not forgotten.
