David Hunter, long-time resident of Belcarra Village passed away on August 9, 2022 at the age of 83. Dave and Ruth Hunter lived in Belcarra for over 35 years from approximately 1974 until 2012. They had many friends and good neighbours and always considered this to be their dream home. Many family gatherings were held at their home and extended family always recall the fun times and good memories made there. Dave could always be found wandering the neighbourhood and enjoyed talking with anyone he ran into. Ruth loved gardening and had a beautiful yard to show for it. They spent much time walking through the trails in the park, usually up the bike trail to the "swamp". David was a Sasamat Volunteer Fire Department fireman for many years and served as the Fire Chief for a time. He enjoyed driving the fire trucks and the camaraderie of the team. Dave is predeceased by his wife Ruth (2018) and survived by their children Alison DeGroot (Robert), Marion Lewis (Doug) and Brian Hunter (Krista), grandchildren Christopher Lewis, Natalie Nichol (Tyler), James Hunter (Livi) and Joseph Hunter, and great-grandchildren Mackenzie and Lanelle Nichol. A casual Celebration of Life will be held at Belcarra Regional Park picnic area on Saturday, September 17th from 12:00-4:00, “Open House” style, please drop at any time.
