DONA ELAINE CHADWICK
August 24, 1933 to December 6, 2020

The family is saddened to announce the passing of Dona Chadwick.
Dona is predeceased by parents Fred & Agnes Chadwick, brother Barry Chadwick and his wife Joan Chadwick, and brother-in-law Dick Sendall. Mom is survived by sisters Diana Sendall, Ann (Alf) Stefanson, children Shelley (Fred), Patrick, Gary, Wendy (Barry), and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and grandpuppies.

Mom was “Mrs. Mulligan” to the neighbourhood kids, all of whom she knew by name. She was famous for her chocolate chip cookies. She was the first to volunteer for anything that would help the community. She was a passionate gardener and, wherever she lived, always spent many hours tending to her flowers; this was her happy place. Mom was once an avid curler, which eventually turned into a job opportunity with Coquitlam Parks & Recreation. She worked for Coquitlam Parks & Rec for many years, lastly at Dogwood Pavilion, up until her retirement. As a result, going anywhere in Coquitlam with Mom meant running into someone she knew.

We have fond memories of the annual family vacation at Deep Bay Fishing Camp, where Mom was awarded the inaugural (and perhaps only) title of “Miss Deep Bay,” receiving a Clamshell Medallion which she wore proudly (in lieu of a tiara.)

The family extends their utmost appreciation to Foyer Maillard and its dedicated staff, for the excellent care that they provided to Mom over the last few years. They treated Mom like family.
Mom’s spirit will live on in her children. As former husband Myles once said, “I see a little part of her in each of you.”

There will be no formal service at Mom’s request. Mom always said to give her flowers when she was still alive, not after she was gone. If you are so inclined, give some flowers to someone close to you, “just because.” She would have liked that. Alternatively, if you wish to make a donation to honor Mom’s memory, donations can be made to Foyer Maillard [www.foyermaillard.ca] or the charity of your choice.
