It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Donald James “Jim” Gleason, who passed away on August 23, 2026, at the age of 69.
Born on September 23, 1956, Jim spent his life surrounded by the family and friends he loved. He enjoyed playing slow-pitch in his youth and into his early 40s. He worked for many years at Lordco, where he was known for his knowledge, humour, and friendly nature.
Jim was an amazing dad, a kind and gentle giant, and truly the sweetest soul. He had a quiet strength that made everyone around him feel safe, welcomed, and cared for. He loved sports and rarely missed the chance to cheer on his favourite teams, the Toronto Blue Jays and the Vancouver Canucks. Jim married Patricia (“Patty”) in December 1987, and together they started a family that remained the centre of his life.
Jim is survived by his sons, Kevin (his wife, Sammy) and David (his partner, Amanda), and his cherished grandchildren, Vincent and Faith. He was predeceased by his beloved grandmother, Alice; his parents, Barbara and Don; and his brother, Bill.
Jim will be remembered for his gentle heart, his unwavering love for his family, and the kindness he showed to everyone he met. His warmth, humour, and generous spirit will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Saturday October 10, 2026 at 1:00 pm at the Kinsmen Club of Port Coquitlam, 2175 Coquitlam Ave, Port Coquitlam, BC V3B 7H3.
