Dr. Geoffrey Richard Lister
January 17, 1934 – March 17, 2017
Geoff passed away on Friday, March 17, 2017, after a year’s hard battle with lung cancer. He will be missed by family and friends in Canada and the United Kingdom, especially his wife, Pat, and his daughter, Kathryn. He fought bravely until the end, and we must thank Dr. Clifford Ungar, the Tri Cities Home Health Palliative Care Team, and Crossroads Hospice for their kindness and support. Geoff was always concerned with the earth’s eco-system, and was known for his enthusiasm for teaching, gardening and being “Mr. Fix-it”. He was proud of his 33-year career as Associate Professor of Biological Sciences, at Simon Fraser University. There will be no formal funeral or gathering, per Geoff’s wishes, but he asked that his friends, colleagues, and students remember him as they plant a tree or garden in their yards. Tributes will be gratefully received online at www.burquitlamfuneralhome.ca and www.honoringalife.org (tree planting program).
